gstv_serverfault_logoYour server has crashed and you can’t figure out why its doing this. You finally get it back up and running and the days work is back in full swing but looking at the log files shows really no severe issue but you feel that you need to know why. Well we have found the answer for you. ServerFault.com is a site that brings answers to your questions about linux, apple, windwos, and many other software and hardware conflicts that will put your mind at ease.

ServerFault.com is a Q&A for the IT industry that cators to help answer questions or bring more insight to already posted questions that many IT people have to face on a daily basis. With simple tags type browsing you can pin point exactly what you are after and more then not find an answer from those that have faced it or input your answer to help someone else out.

In Their Own Words:

Server Fault is a Q&A site for system administrators and IT professionals that’s free. Free to ask questions, free to answer questions, free to read, free to index, built with plain old HTML, no fake rot13 text on the home page, no scammy google-cloaking tactics, no salespeople, no JavaScript windows dropping down in front of the answer asking for $12.95 to go away. You can register if you want to collect karma and win valuable flair that will appear next to your name, but otherwise, it’s just free. And fast. Very, very fast.

What makes this site a Great Site To Visit:
You need to go through a “trust” process where your input is going to be checked for quality reasons. After that you will be able to help others to build good answers to every question asked by any system administrator or IT professional.

The kind of server or desktop you use or administer is not significant when it comes to having the chance to contribute with this site as well as to be benefited from it. There is nothing really special about this site other than the fact that the system combines different aspects related to Wikis, Blogs, Forums, and Digg/Reddit.

The Look And Feel:
As we said in the top, it has a simple “tags” based menu system that actually works for this type of site. Need help with windows crashing click on the OS tag of your choice and check out the questions that have been answered. If you are wanting to help out its as simple as posting an answer to a question and help the community that way.

With no registration required you have any question about the servers, networks, or desktops you support, you are welcome to look around in order to see if your possible question has already been asked or answered before you ask.

Final Thoughts:
This is a strong site that caters to a niche that i actually came from and in some aspect still work for. It works to help ease the burdon of a IT specialist and gives true to word answers to questions without having to worry about the source being wrong due to a “trust” relationship that the asnwer goes throught first.
