FeedMingle is a rss aggregator that pulls 2 or more feeds from RSS/Atom into one easy to use and read rss feed. This allows readers a way to grab news from many different sources on a subject and have them in one feed instead of dotting your favorite homepage with all of these feeds.
This means if you grab information from sources like techcrunch, gizmodo, and others then you can keep them in one simple widget that is not only easy to read but more organized. There is also a cool little widget that you can embed into your Igoogle, My Yahoo, or your favorite homepage to help bring a little sanity to your many mashups of feeds and tweets. You can use this system to mashup your favorite tweet posts from those that you follow to keep up with as well so you really never do miss a beat.
In Their Own Words:
FeedMingle makes lives simpler for web designers/developers, feed readers, bloggers, or just anyone who wants to merge two or more RSS / Atom feeds into one. It mixes all the feeds provided and creates one RSS feed, Atom feed, JSON feed, and a html widget to simply paste into your website or blog.
What makes this site a Great Site To Visit:
It has the potential to become a service you really will use if you check many different news sites, tech sites, or sites within the same niche and allows you to have a more organized feed so you don’t go insane reading one then the other. Also with the widget and capability to bring tweets to your homepage, it opens a greater news range for you.
The Look And Feel:
The process itself couldn’t be easier. You simply add the feed URLs one by one by pasting them and then choose a title for the new merged feed. That’s it. It is interesting to note, though, that there is no need to paste the exact feed URL – if the browser shows the orange RSS icon in the address bar as you are navigating a page, that means that the page’s URL is also good to be pasted.
It comes with its own simple rss link that is easy to paste into any site or reader, also will come with a widget that you can post on your blog, site, or favorite homepage. With no signup and a one off link you can jump right in and start to organize everything without an issue.
Final Thoughts:
I love the idea of a rss feed that can mashup many different ones. I actually played around with this using 3 of my favorite site feeds and it turned out great. I really don’t see much in the way of changes that can be done but some could. Its easy and free and that is all that counts when it comes to keeping up with the day to day stuff. I am also a fan of the fact that tweets can be used since this site loves twitter and uses it every change we can. So go check out the site and see for yourself.
